It takes the collaboration of all facets of an organization to implement wide scale change. This is especially true when habits and perceptions are deeply ingrained into the students and staff (administration, support staff, & teachers) of a school district. An initiative spear headed by the high school head custodian and a high school biology instructor has begun a growing sustainability initiative at the Plymouth School District. The Green Team was started by a environmentally minded student in 2013. Since then, the Green Team has evolved into a student centered sustainability initiative which now involves recycling, composting and educational programs. It has also created partnerships with the school district and local businesses & organizations. While still in its infancy, the collaborative nature of the Green Team has proven to be successful in implementing sustainability practices within the Plymouth School District. The presentation will outline the Green Team's history and multiple collaborative initiatives.
